At the end of November we set out to offer refunds totalling £52,118.67 to the pledged Community. So far we have distributed over £48,500 by direct bank-to-bank transfer - and a big ’thank you’ to all those who sent in their Bank details to enable this process to take place, (+ a double ’thank you’ to those who sent their details in more than once (!) - there seems to have been a minor glitch on the form which meant that I couldn’t trace a few of the submissions).
With a big ‘thank you’ to a small number of you who have decided to leave your pledges in place for future projects, we are now down to just 13 households we need to contact to get refund details. We will be getting in touch, but if you have been expecting a refund and it has not shown on your Bank statement by the middle of next week, then do please drop me an email so that I can look into it. (Payments are marked ‘HCP Refund”).
So, with these refunds completed we are really pretty much at the end of the Project, which started in December 2015 with the rather ambitious target of bringing fast(er) broadband to over 340 homes. Thanks to the recruitment of a sterling bunch of Champions the fund-raising exceeded all expectations - and we say a big thank you to each of them. The Committee have been a continual source of support and wise counsel, but it has to be said that without the amazing skill sets and untiring effort that Roly Errington and David Whitehead brought to bear, week in and week out over nearly two years it would simply never have happened. Mark Bloor’s expertise was also invaluable. We all owe them a considerable debt of gratitude.
As an executive group of three, it has been an enormously time consuming Project. We have had some good times and others not so good; we have had to fight our corner pretty hard, particularly over the last 6 months, to get the job done; but all in all we have made some firm friends at Openreach and can now look at the fruits of our efforts with genuine satisfaction.

PS. Finally, do remember that we continue to have direct access to senior members of the Openreach engineering and delivery teams for at least another 3 months. There are only a tiny handful of problems still being worked on, but if you run into challenges, do please get in touch.
