July 4th 2017 Project Update
Cab 17 Hungerford X While excavating to install power last week the SSE team "discovered" a steel duct containing other power cables. Unfortunately the proposed route for our power would have passed directly over this duct and Health & Safety rules preclude this. So, SSE stopped their work and are seeking a new route. This is 'tear your hair out' time, but escalation indicates that, subject to confirmation, a new power route should be implemented in the next two weeks. To all those who will be supplied by Cab 17, our sincere apologies - and we will keep you posted.
Cab 18 South Gorley remains on track to be declared available to the network, i.e. open for business in the next few days.
If you are not sure whether your property is within the catchment of these two cabinets, please go to the MAP - ALL SCHEMES drop down and select Map 2 for Hungerford X and Map 3 for South Gorley.
Once Openreach declare a cabinet “available to the network” it usually takes up to 7 days before all CPs are notified and can accept orders - and it will be through your chosen CP that you will receive the new faster service (remember you will need a new modem – please see the notes circulated previously). We will be watching developments closely and as soon as we know the live dates we will be emailing all those residents affected with an update. We will also post information on this page.
Cab 19 Frogham Hill (Map 4) and Cab 20 Frogham X (Map 5). The new fibre route has been surveyed, picking up the fibre connection from Hern Lane and running along Hyde Lane until it reaches Cab 19. We are now awaiting estimates of action dates from Morrisons and expect a positive update by the end of this week. Once this fibre path is installed, 19 & 20 should become available to the network within a few days, as all other required elements are in place. Reassuringly Natural England and the Verderers have agreed to this option.
Cab 21 Blissford Hill (Map 6) The new cabinet location (avoiding the water main) is agreed, the survey work is done and the estimates are issued. The fibre pathway is confirmed. Morrisons are now under pressure to confirm the earliest possible dates for erecting the Cabinet and getting SSE to provide power. We have not heard yet, but expect a positive response by the end of the week.
Cab PCP002 North Gorley (Map 1) This is the cabinet that is being completed under the HCC/BDUK programme. The new cabinet is in place, commissioned and should be declared available to the network within a few days. Residents who will be served by this Cabinet could hope to get a positive response from their selected CP as early as next week. Time to consult the Guide for Residents under the FAQ dropdown
