PROJECT NEWS ............TIMELINE Friday 15th July 2016
You could be forgiven for thinking that the whole project was a myth; but actually there has been a lot of work going on, particularly with the Openreach [OR] team who are managing our build.
OR have assigned a Community Liaison Officer, Steven Cliff, to the Project and he is monitoring all our communications with OR and ensuring the timely performance of follow-up activity.
OR is preparing a set of milestones that will show the planned progress of the project up to the final delivery date of March 2017. These will be issued shortly.
The Project has now entered the detailed planning phase, which will last some weeks. You may have noticed that someone has been running around with a spray can of white paint, painting lines, oblongs and hieroglyphics here and there - not Banksy unfortunately, but an OR surveyor carrying out a preliminary survey of possible cabinet positions. This first stage work will be reviewed on Monday 18th when the OR surveyor and HCP will make a joint foray to all the cabinet locations, as a precursor to OR seeking the necessary permissions.
OR have agreed that as soon as any Cabinet is ready for service it will be handed over to the Project for residents served by that cabinet to connect to. At this stage we cannot advise as to the order of cabinet installation; but as more detail becomes available we will update the website.
We continue to work with HCC on BDUK matters and also with the NFDC Broadband Development Group. Visitors to the New Forest Show on Wednesday 27th can find Roly Errington and Peter Dowling at the "walk-in" event at the NFDC stand between noon and 3pm to support the NFDC Broadband Community Toolkit initiative, which is designed to help other Communities who wish to follow a self-funding route.
