Those who attended the Open Meeting in March 2015 will know that we have a vision for our Parishes - and that we are passionate about it.
Every home in our Parishes has need of fast broadband. Our aim was and is quite straightforward: no-one should be left out of our delivery model, every home should receive broadband; if not superfast, then certainly a lot faster than they get now.
We want Home Working to be simply a matter of choice - the internet tools will be in existence. There are over 7,500 businesses in the Forest; we want to see that increase so that young people will flood back to our communities. That needs fast(er) broadband.
We want to live in a Parish where changes to medical practice - taking medicine out of the surgeries and back to ‘at home’ diagnosis and consultation via video links to GP’s and specialists - can be available to all residents, young and old; but it can only work if we have access to fast broadband, and
Like many other people, we believe that TV as we know it today is dying. Streaming of media via the internet is the future - and it's already here! We want our communities to be able to take advantage of every exciting new development - and we know that without fast broadband we will be left behind.
We realised early on that the power of two parishes - 800+ homes (instead of 400) and 190 businesses - would be beneficial in getting our voice heard. So we have joined forces with our friends in Ellingham, Harbridge and Ibsley [EH&I].
In March it became clear that Hyde and EH&I (Ellingham, Harbridge and Ibsley) had not been included in the next phase of the BDUK rollout plan and therefore we are not going see any improvements under BDUK until 2020 - at the earliest.
THAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!
We need Fast(er) broadband NOW and no-one should be left out of our delivery model.
