The Company is a Community Benefit Society, registered under the Industrial and Provident Societies Act 1965 and the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014 and is registered with the Financial Conduct Authority,[FCA]. The Company, as legally structured, exists in order to carry on business for the benefit of the Community, and must not operate for anyone’s private benefit.
Hyde Community Shop Ltd was formed in 2013 to act as the vehicle for the Village Shop project - which in the event sadly never materialised. A lot of hard work went into that project and rather than let the company go, it was decided to rename it as Hyde Community Projects Ltd, so that it could be used when other village projects emerge.
Corporate governance requires a Management Committee and at present the members of the Committee are:
Peter Dowling (Chairman) Chair, Hyde Parish Council
Catherine Avery Jones (Company Secretary)
Dai Morgan Chair, Hall Management Committee
Membership is the means by which the Society is owned by the community. Members have a voice in the Society and the opportunity to be elected to a representative role in its governance. Membership is free! If you would like to put your name forward to become a member just click on the 'Let's Talk' tab and let us know.
When a new project is identified a Project Leader will be selected and it will be his or her task to organise the Project and - with the support and guidance of the Management committee - carry it through to its conclusion. Talking of which, it just so happens that we have such a Project - and its BIG, EXCITING, CHALLENGING and POSSIBLE. It will have a profound influence on the lives of those living in our Community for many years to come!! We need to get going right away .............
