Where do we go from here ? October 2018
Our request for ideas on the future direction of Hyde Community Projects Ltd was discussed at the annual meeting. 3 ideas were tabled and briefly debated:
setting up a community car-pool,
a community energy generating scheme, and
improving access to good mobile signals throughout the community.
Before sharing out thoughts on these possibilities, we would like to ask you what you feel would be a really worthwhile project to follow on from the considerable success of the Broadband project. We have some limited funds available to promote future activity - and we might still be able to muster sufficient enthusiasm to help review ideas!! So if you have a suggestion, please spend a little time researching its potential viability, write it up on one sheet of A4 paper and then send it in to us for consideration. We will then be able to assess what resources, human and financial, may be needed to explore possibilities in detail. Closing date: 31st December
Hyde Community Ltd is a private company, limited by guarantee. It was formed on 21st January 2016 and has charitable status. It was formed at the time when it seemed that the ability to claim Gift Aid might be beneficial to the funding of our broadband project; but in the event it turned out that this was not an appropriate course to pursue, so the company has remained dormant.
As the broadband project is now drawing to a close, the Management Committee feel that Hyde Community Projects Ltd [HCP] really have no obvious use for it and so we have considered whether we should apply for it to be struck off the register. At the same time, the company cost several hundreds of pounds to form and was generously donated to our cause by a supporter, so we have agreed to wait a further 12 months to see whether anyone in our Community would have a good use for it. So, we would invite and welcome applications from any person or persons living in the HCP catchment area to get in touch if they wish to make a proposal for its use.
